OPEN DOORS PARTNERS BRING RELIEF TO HAITI
As ministries, U.S. troops, doctors and aid workers flow into Haiti, hundreds of thousands of quake victims struggle to find a cup of clean water or a handful of food. Initial estimates show that 50,000 to 100,000 people died in last Tuesday's 7.0-magnitude quake in Haiti. Other estimates suggest the number may be closer to 200,000. Up to 3 million displaced people are in need of aid.
Many survivors have lost their homes and are living outdoors for fear of aftershocks causing unstable buildings to collapse. Since so many people are homeless, a tent city for 100,000 people — an instant city the size of Burbank, California — is being erected on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince.
