Hotels fill quickly in Washington, D.C., so don’t wait too long to book your hotel. When looking for a hotel in Washington, D.C., keep the following in mind:
- Parking is extremely limited and expensive.
- Taking the Metro is the most affordable form of transportation.
- Accessibility to Metro stations: Try to find a hotel within a few blocks of a Metro station, or one with a free shuttle to the nearest station.
- Most hotels charge expensive parking rates.
- Look for dining within walking distance.
- Check the distances to points of interest such as museums and monuments.
- To avoid spending too much time commuting, try to find a hotel within 10 miles of the city center.
