Step One: Register for Lobby Day

By registering for Lobby Day, you will help Open Doors best group together supporters and organize the Congressional visits. The main rally on Capitol Hill will be held on April 29 at Noon.  Lobbying activities will start immediately following the rally.

Step Two: Order your free official visitor’s guide

Go to the official tourism website* for Washington, D.C., which has all the necessary information for your trip, including sightseeing, hotels, dining, and transportation.

Step Three:  Book your hotel

Here are some helpful hints:
Hotels fill quickly in Washington, D.C., so don’t wait too long to book your hotel.  When looking for a hotel in Washington, D.C., keep the following in mind:
  • Parking is extremely limited and expensive.
  • Taking the Metro is the most affordable form of transportation.
  • Accessibility to Metro stations: Try to find a hotel within a few blocks of a Metro station, or one with a free shuttle to the nearest station.
  • Most hotels charge expensive parking rates.
  • Look for dining within walking distance.
  • Check the distances to points of interest such as museums and monuments.
  • To avoid spending too much time commuting, try to find a hotel within 10 miles of the city center.

  • The Union Station on the Red line will bring you closest to the Senate Office Buildings.
  • The Capitol South stop on the Orange/Blue lines will bring you closest to the Capitol building and House Office Buildings.
