Urgent plea—church planters needed for the heart of the Muslim world! How, through your prayerful partnership with Open Doors, you can proclaim the gospel within the world’s most restricted Islamic countries Please pray that the Bibles you provide will get into the hands of those whom God is calling to Himself. |
Without a doubt, persecution is intensifying across much of the Muslim world. Every day, believers are marginalized, threatened, beaten and imprisoned. In many countries, Christians keep their faith secret, and seldom dare to meet with other believers. In these countries, how can Christians proclaim the Good News of the gospel? How can the church reach out with the wonderful message of hope and salvation in Jesus? Certainly not with meetings, rallies or evangelistic programs. And yet, the church is growing. Muslims are coming to know Christ.
It’s quiet, it’s personal, and so very powerful! God is at work, saving men, women and children. And how is He doing it? Through His mighty Word.
Which is why your gifts for Open Doors’ Bible delivery programs across the Muslim world are absolutely vital. Your support enables our teams on the ground to distribute thousands of Bibles, in numerous languages, right to the heart of the Muslim world. A glimpse of God at work Every so often, our co-workers share testimonies with us that allow us to catch a glimpse of how God is using the Bibles you provide to open blind eyes, soften hard hearts and win souls for Christ—even in the most restricted of Islamic nations. Brother Charlie’s story gives us such a glimpse. “I remember when my family got our first Bible,” Charlie recalls. “I was quite young, but I did try to read parts of it,” Charlie continues. “The Bible was in Arabic, which is not my mother tongue, so I didn’t really understand it very well.” Years later, Charlie was given a Bible this time in his own language. “It was in Kurdish and it spoke to clearly to my heart,” Charlie recalls. “I loved it and read it daily. Soon I became convinced that Jesus is the Way.”
Today Charlie is committed to making sure others have the chance to read God’s Word for themselves. “God has told me to share the gospel with other people,” he says. “So now I visit others, taking them Scriptures and booklets.”
Following Christ Like Charlie, Sister Mariam was converted after a friend had the courage to give her a Bible. “I met some people who had become Christians,” recounts Mariam. One of the believers befriended Mariam, and boldly gave her a copy of God’s Word, together with some other Christian literature. “I teased my friend and really mocked her for bringing me these books,” Mariam admits. But in God’s timing, Mariam turned from her mockery. “Step by step, my husband and I became more interested and open,” recalls Mariam. “We wanted to know more about Christ and we actually started to follow Him.” Play your part and PRAY your part Your continued support for our Bible distribution programs across the Muslim world will enable us to continue delivering God’s Word into the hands of people like Mariam and Charlie. And, by His grace, God can use your prayers to advance His Kingdom within the Muslim world. Please pray that the Bibles you provide will get into the hands of those whom God is calling to Himself. Then you will be playing your part—and PRAYing your part—in church planting in the Muslim world! [All names changed for security reasons.]
