Thanks to its large reserves of oil and gas, Brunei has one of the highest standards of living in the world. Although the constitution allows for the practice of other religions, the government places restrictions on religious groups that do not adhere to Sunni Islam. The vast majority of Christians are expatriates or foreign workers. Access to Christian literature and places of worship is limited and evangelisation of Muslims is prohibited.
