In 1955, a young Dutchman was burdened with the desire to reach out to Christians in Eastern Europe, where Christianity was becoming more and more illegal. He took his first trip to visit Christians in Poland, and was amazed at what he saw: Entire underground churches with only one Bible to share! Brother Andrew began delivering Bibles to Christians in Poland and several other countries where believers were persecuted for their faith.
Today, Bible & Gospel Development remains a cornerstone of the ministry of Open Doors. Through delivering Bibles, Christian literature and evangelism training, Open Doors is able to work alongside the indigenous church to best meet their needs and shine the light of Christ, in spite of the persecution that they endure.
In places like North Korea, owning a Bible is illegal and can lead to instant execution. Bibles are difficult to come by for this reason and makes this ministry especially important. Thanks to friends like you, we were able to reach millions of believers around the world with God’s Word and other vital Christian resources.
