Child Raising Seminar Held This Week in Central Asia

May 19, 2016 by Brianna Nishie in ,

This week, May 16 – 20, a seminar will be held in Central Asia covering the topic of raising children within the context of Christianity. Within the Central Asian culture, grandparents (more specifically grandmothers) play a major role in raising children, so both parents and grandparents are expected to attend. Around 10 parents and grandmothers will be in attendance for this seminar.

Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan are some of the countries that make up Central Asia. They also rank numbers 15, 19, 31, and 42, respectively on the World Watch List, listing the top 50 countries where Christians face the most persecution. No matter what country these families meet in, they are surrounded by the ever present danger of being caught.

Christians want Christianity to become a part of the Central Asian culture. They no longer want to be seen as foreigners in their own country for following an “American religion.” Seminars like this will help reshape the culture and raise a new generation of believers.

Please pray for the seminar, that it both educates and empowers its attendees to raise their children with Christian principles. Pray for the safety of the attendees, and the couple leading the seminar. Lastly pray that these families can influence their society with God’s love.
