Five Things To Expect When The World Watch List Launches Tomorrow

January 7, 2014 by Open Doors in Persecution updates

World Watch List Tomorrow Open Doors will launch the 2014 World Watch List. The World Watch List is an annual ranking of the top 50 countries where Christians face the most persecution. Sadly, this has been a newsworthy year for the global persecution of Christians. Hundreds of churches have been attacked in Nigeria. Entire Christian towns have been destroyed in Syria. And in North Korea, at least 80 people were allegedly killed for owning a Bible. So what can we expect from the World Watch List Tomorrow? Here are the top five things to know:

  1. Persecution has increased in many countries on the World Watch List
  2. Africa as a continent is seeing an increase in persecution
  3. There will be three new countries on the World Watch List this year.
  4. The majority of the top ten countries on the 2014 World Watch List are threatened by Islamic extremism.
  5. There are many people coming to Christ in some of these countries, in spite of the persecution.

More details to come tomorrow when our World Watch List launches. Thank you for your willingness to pray for Christians in these countries!
