Join Open Doors for the next Secret Church Simulcast with David Platt
Open Doors is partnering with Radical, the resource ministry of David Platt, for the next Secret Church simulcast — “A Global Gospel in a World of Religions” — on Friday, April 29.
Secret Church began in 2006, based on time David Platt spent with brothers and sisters in underground Asian house churches. In those contexts, Christ-followers gather together at the risk of their lives for 8-12 hours at a time — simply to pray, worship and study God’s Word. During his time as senior pastor of The Church at Brook Hills the church decided to do just that. On a Friday night one fall, they met to study the Word intensely for 6 hours and to pray for persecuted brothers and sisters in Africa.
A little over a thousand people participated in that first Secret Church gathering. Over the next few years, Secret Church continued to grow, word began to spread about this incredible gathering, and before long the church was full to overflowing.
In 2011, Radical facilitated the first Secret Church simulcast, making it available for the first time to churches and small groups across the United States and around the world. Now over 60,000 people come together through the simulcast to study and pray each year.
Open Doors is honored to be a part of Secret Church. Will you join us?
This Year’s Secret Church Topic: “A Global Gospel in a World of Religions”
We all have questions when it comes to sharing the gospel with people of different faiths . . .
- Isn’t it intolerant to say that Jesus is the only way to be right with God?
- Doesn’t everyone really worship the same God, just in different ways?
- What if I’m not an expert on Islam . . . should I still witness to my Muslim friend?
- Why do I need to know about other religions if I’m not a missionary?
- What do I need to know about other religions when I’m witnessing to people?
During this Secret Church, David Platt will consider how the claims of Christ inform our understanding of other religions, as well as how we should live when surrounded by followers of diverse belief systems. (Read the full topic synopsis here.)
Join David, along with hundreds of churches and thousands of small group participants around the world, as we study God’s Word and spend dedicated time in prayer for our persecuted brothers and sisters in India on Friday, April 29, 2016.
