Persecution at Age 14

June 5, 2013 by Open Doors in

When I was 14 years old, I entered my freshman year of high school. My thoughts were filled with weekend plans, Friday night football games and picking the right outfit for the next day of school. I was emotionally fragile, as teenage girls sometimes are and could not have imagined what it would have been like to face persecution for my faith.

It has been eleven months since 14-year-old Susan’s father tortured her for embracing Christianity. She is still unable to walk as a result of many months of torture. Susan was hospitalized at Kagando Hospital in October 2010 after neighbors called for the police to rescue her from her father. He was arrested shortly after, but was then quickly released.

Susan and her younger brother, Mbusa, lived alone with their father in the Kasese District, of Uganda, after he divorced their mother. In March 2010 an evangelist from Bwera Full Gospel Church came to Susan’s school to share the Gospel with them. The message of salvation captured Susan’s spirit. Susan made a choice to trust Christ for her own salvation and has remained strong in her faith, despite all of the persecution she has faced.

Thank you Lord for Susan’s faithfulness despite all that has happened to her!
