Praise Report: Special Task Force to Investigate Pastor Raymond Koh’s Abduction

May 23, 2019 by Lindy Lowry in Asia

We have a praise report from Malaysia. Today, the Minister of the Home Ministry, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, confirmed it will set up a special task force to investigate the disappearances of Pastor Raymond Koh and social activist Amri Che Mat. This task force, says Susanna Koh, is an answer to prayer. For more than a year, she has pleaded for a private investigation into her husband’s kidnapping.

“I am so happy. God is good. He answers more than we can imagine or think,” Susanna said after learning that a task force would be commissioned.

The Cabinet of Ministers consented to the decision to establish the task force, in light of the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia’s (Suhakam) report over the disappearances. Pastor Koh was abducted in broad daylight in a military-precision style operation on February 13, 2017. No one has seen or heard from him since.

After a year-long inquiry into his disappearance, in April 2019 the report concluded that Pastor Koh was abducted by state police.

“The task force will analyze the report and then decide on the appropriate course of action that must be taken either by the ministry or any other relevant authority,” Muhyiddin said, adding that members of the task force will consist of six to seven individuals.

They will be revealed “very soon,” he said. While police officers will be part of the task force because they have the power to investigate, any police directly related to the disappearances will not be involved, he noted.

“We will include others as well, and we already have several individuals in mind for the positions though they have not yet been contacted.”

Once set up, the task force will be given a certain period of time to conduct their investigations and analyze the Suhakam report, and forward their findings.

“Please keep praying,” Susanna asks. Pray specifically for those selecting the people to serve on the special task force–that truth and justice would prevail, that the perpetrators would be brought to justice and ultimately, that Pastor Koh and Amri would be found and reunited with their families.
