Pray Without Ceasing

I love Paul’s call to “pray without ceasing” in 1 Thessalonians 5:17. What a beautiful idea….to constantly be communing with the Lord.

The action step for today in Prayer: The Real Battle asks ‘What one thing could you do this week to move your prayer life from one number closer to 10? (10=pray constantly for God’s will to be done)’

I had a mentor in my life who really took this call seriously. He said every time that he would think of a person, he would try to pray for them. Every time he had an anxious thought, he would pray about it. Every time he walked passed a beautiful portion of nature, he would try to stop and praise God. When he put this into action in his own life, he said that he realized he was spending his whole day with God- praying constantly.

That is a way that I can move my prayer life closer to 10…when I am constantly communing with God, I am able to seek His will. Persecuted Christians are great at this- they know how to truly pray without ceasing.

So Lord, I pray that you would remind me to pray more often, that my day would be filled with communion with you. Amen!
