Ramadan Day 16- Faithfulness

July 10, 2014 by Open Doors in Ramadan

Ramadan Day 16 Ethiopia – Brother Alagaw had started an aggressive gospel ministry in his region, and many accepted the Lord through his preaching. This angered the members of the traditional church, so they colluded with Muslim fundamentalists to stop Alagaw and his followers saying, “These people will destroy our country, nation and religions if we do not stop them immediately.” Brother Alagaw’s church group decided to hold their first crusade at the local stadium. The worshippers gathered early, but by 10:00 a.m. an angry crowd approached the stadium. Without a warning, they destroyed the sound system and other property. Some believers went to the local police station, but the police refused to help. During the attack, a pregnant woman lost her baby. After this incident, other forms of harassment followed, including stones thrown during church services. Eventually, the aggressors burned down their church building. But in spite of the persecution, they remained faithful and continued to hold church services without a building. Out of the ashes, 120 new believers accepted Jesus. RESPONSE: Today, gather all the Bibles that you have. Ask the Lord to lead you to a person to whom He wants you to give one to. In obedience to His prompting, give this Bible as a gift, then pray for this person that they would read God’s Word and respond in saving faith. PRAYER: Holy Spirit, fill Christians today with faithfulness to share Your Word regardless of circumstances- in particular, to Muslims. Amen.
