Ramadan Day 5- Kindness

June 30, 2014 by Open Doors in Ramadan

Ramdan Day 5 Azerbaijan – His family was yelling at him, threatening him. “Your family or Jesus,” they shouted. Shirin had accepted Christ, but now his family was demanding that he make a choice. Was this the way it was supposed to be? In spite of the threats, Shirin chose Jesus, but now, only 15 and all alone on the streets, he was hungry, penniless and frightened. What would happen to him? It was then that an Azeri Christian saw Shirin and took him into his own home to live. Shirin’s faith and love for God has grown while living under the protection and kindness of a fellow believer. Since he left his family’s home, his mother and father were sent to prison for being drug addicts. Now he is using his deepened faith to witness to them about God’s great love. Once an outcast, he is now able to show the love of Jesus to his family. STAND “ONE WITH THEM” Listen to God’s voice as He tells you of someone who is troubled or in need of friendship. Today, bring that person flowers, send them a card, or make a phone call as you reach out in kindness. PRAY “ONE WITH THEM” Father, we pray for new believers like Shirin who have been rejected by their families. May there be many Christians who are willing to give “a cup of cold water” in Your name to those seeking Your truth during the Ramadan season. Amen.
