Remembering the Persecuted In the Spirit of Thanksgiving

June 5, 2013 by Open Doors in Stories of Persecution

What a wonderful holiday this is- a time to reflect upon all that God has done for us. He has blessed us with His son Jesus. He has blessed us by saving us and allowing us to live eternally with Him. He has blessed us with the gift of life.

Each year on Thanksgiving my family and I go around the table listing the things we are thankful for. This is a tradition that many families that I know have. It is wonderful to reflect upon all that God has done for us and to count our blessings.

In the spirit of remaining One With Them, I praise God for living in a country where I have religious freedom. It is one of the things that I am most thankful for and I will share that tomorrow. But, as a free Christian, I am called to do more than be thankful. I need to pray for the suffering members of the Body of Christ, for those Christians that do not have religious freedom. I need to be a voice for the voiceless.

So this Thanksgiving, will you join with me in thanking God for our freedom and praying for those who are persecuted? Thank you for your faithfulness in praying for our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. May God bless you and your family this Thanksgiving!
