My Bible is my most precious possession, because it is the living, breathing, powerful word of God. It is the clearest way that He speaks to his people. Two verses that speak powerfully to me: the first is Luke 23:34, which reads “Then Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.’ And they divided His garments and cast lots.” These were Jesus’ first words on the cross, and He used them to ask the Father to forgive those who tortured and insulted Him. This is the clearest example of God’s mercy in the Bible. The second is Colossians 3:14, which reads, “But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.” This verse reminds me that love is the most important thing a Christian must have; without it, we are nothing, and do not fully reflect the character of God.
