World Watch List 2012

The World Watch List for 2012 launched today and for the 10th straight year in a row, North Korea has held the number one spot as the worst persecutor of Christians.

If you have not already, I would encourage you to go to the World Watch List website and download the World Watch List rankings. This list provides an in-depth look at persecution in each of these countries. It also labels each country as Severe Persecution, Oppression, Severe Limitations, Some Limitations or Some Problems.

Both Kazakhstan and Colombia are new to the World Watch List this year. According to the list, in Kazakhstan, two laws were passed by parliament (which became effective in October 2011), that further imposed restrictions on religious rights.

The list also states that persecution of Christians in Colombia, particularly by criminal organizations, is generally motivated by a combination of two elements. Organized crime views Christians who openly oppose their activities as a threat, especially when Christians get involved in social programs or in politics. In addition, they know the Christian faith is not compatible with their ideals. They fear Christians will influence members of the community or even members of their own organizations to oppose their activities.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this very important list. We are thankful for your prayers and your continued commitment to be One With Them.
