USCIRF Identifies World’s Worst Religious Freedom Violators

June 5, 2013 by Open Doors in

USCIRF (The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom) is a federal government commission that monitors global religious freedom. Yesterday they released their annual report and noted 16 Countries of Particular Concern: Burma, China, Egypt, Eritrea, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. The list can be viewed here

All of these countries are on the World Watch List and are severe offenders of religious freedom. It is important for the federal government to recognize these countries and to act accordingly. This list affects dealings and relations with every country on the list.

USCIRF almost lost all funding in December. Thankfully at the last minute, funding was reinstated. The work that they do is very important and we are thankful to have a federally funded organization noting the religious freedom violations worldwide. Would you take a moment to review this document and pray for the countries on this list? Thank you for your partnership in prayer!
