January 7, 2020 by Lindy Lowry in Africa

A short video offering proof of life of kidnapped Nigerian Pastor Lawan Andimi, a senior member of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). is circulating on social media. The video was uploaded by a journalist known to have access to Boko Haram leadership.

In the six-minute video, the church leader calls on authorities to secure his release. He was kidnapped on January 3 during a raid on the major town of Michika near the Cameroon border. The pastor told his family and colleagues, “don’t dry, don’t worry, but thank God for everything.”

“I have never been discouraged because everything is in the hands of God. God who made them to take care of me and leave me alive will touch them … So, I am appealing to fellow reverends, particularly my President, Rev. Joel Billy, who is a strong man of love, that he will do his best to speak with our governor and other necessary agents for my release.

“By the grace of God, I will be together with my wife, children and colleagues and if the opportunity has not been granted, then maybe it is the will of God. All well-wishers and colleagues should be patient.

“By the grace of God, I will be together with my wife and children and colleagues… don’t cry, don’t worry, but thank God for everything.”

Prayers for Pastor Lawan

The governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has called for prayers for Andimi, saying he’s was aware of the pastor’s kidnapping and that he sympathizes with CAN.

“We are saddened by this development and want to urge prayers for his release,” he said. “We know that there’s nothing God cannot do.”

Pray with us for Pastor Lawan and his family. Pray for extraordinary grace and peace in the midst of the storm. Pray that God would fulfill His purposes for Pastor Lawan’s family and that his testimony would have far-reaching effect. Pray for wisdom and diligence for the government and swift action to secure Pastor Lawan’s release.
