Brighten the day of these children in Colombia

Colombian children face many dangers. Drug traffickers and prostitution rings target children to use for their own violent agendas. Especially vulnerable are those who have been abandoned or whose parents have been killed.

That’s why the Children’s Center opened; to provide safe shelter for children targeted by these dangerous groups. The Christian home has a capacity to receive 60 children at a time, ages 7 to 18 years old. Traumatized children receive psychological care as well as pastoral nurturing from the staff.

Because many Colombian children are unable to go to school due to the country’s internal conflict, the home also provides a formal education along with some fun and practical electives like technical courses, agriculture, cosmetology and music.

The children usually stay until graduation but sometimes receive scholarships and can continue to live on the campus, in a separate house, to study and volunteer.

Try to imagine what it would feel like as a child who no longer has their parents in their lives. Receiving a personal greeting in the mail would remind you that you matter–that there is someone out there who cares about you.

Be that person to the kids at the Children’s Center. Let them know they have more family members than they can count–family members all over the world who are thinking of them.

In the instructions below, we’re providing the names of the children who live in the Center along with their ages. You may write to one child … or you may want to write to two or three or… four! We know this will brighten their day in a very tumultuous time in their country. Fill in the form below.
