Bhutan’s Christians: Out of the Shadows, Waiting for Rights

December 8, 2014 by Open Doors in Asia

The Christian minority in the tiny Buddhist nation of Bhutan remained underground until 2008.

Father, we bring before You today fellow Christians living in the shadow of the mighty Himalayas, struggling not only with survival in the rugged terrain, but also with their minority status in this Buddhist nation. Thank You that they may worship more freely in their homes now, lifting their voices in praise. And yet we pray that You will overrule in their government to grant permission for them to build houses of worship and cemeteries in which to bury their dead. We pray that You will grant them a voice in their government and bestow godly wisdom upon them as they seek ways to honor their rulers as You teach in Your Word. We also pray that as You continue to heal the sick through the prayers of Your people; that You will open the eyes of many in this nation to see Your power so that they may turn in faith to Christ. In the name of Jesus, who rules over the nations from sea to sea, Amen.
