Court Hearing for Muslim Background Believers in Central Asia

July 7, 2017 by Open Doors in Prayer updates

A court hearing took place last week in a Muslim-majority country. According to an Open Doors field worker, eleven Muslim Background Believers were arrested about a month ago during a wedding that was interrupted by the authorities. The eleven MBBs were arrested for “illegal religious meetings” and sentenced large fines of $800 and three were fined $1300 for possessing Christian literature.

These fines are much higher than they can pay, especially the students who have limited income. Christians in this nation are living under great pressure and control of the authorities and are persecuted by their Muslim relatives. Please pray for Christians in this Central Asian nation.

Father, we thank You for the body of believers You have raised up in this nation in Central Asia. We give You praise that You are gathering together people from every nation and language to be Christ’s church. Today, we pray Your protection to rest upon these believers as they struggle through a time of great pressure from the extreme Muslims in their city. Provide for them in the face of the great fines that have been imposed on them. Protect them from physical harm and from spiritual attack. Encourage them in their faith; where our arch-enemy Satan would throw his “fiery darts” at them, use these hard times to grow and strengthen their faith. Protect and equip them with all the spiritual armor you promise us in Ephesians 6. In the name of Jesus, who sent His Holy Spirit to “sustain us to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:8). Amen.
