Indonesia—New Believer Interrogated, His Bible Burned

August 31, 2017 by Open Doors in Prayer updates

A new believer, Harun* (19), is in urgent need of prayer. He was questioned about his new faith by his family and villagers on August 23. Earlier, his father found a Bible in his room and burned it.

Harun came to faith a month ago at a Christian event. Wanting to learn more about his new faith, he asked to bring a Bible home. When advised to be careful with it by the mentor assigned to him, he answered, “I am ready to face any risks.”

Pray that God will take the words Harun spoke as he responded to questioning and use them in the lives of his family members. Pray that all who questioned Harun witnessed the life of Christ in him.

Father, we bring before You today Harun, a new believer in great need of Your care. He is in a desperate situation and we fear for him. Our only comfort is that You have heard his cry and that the power of Your Holy Spirit lives within him. He is but a tender branch, having been just grafted into Christ, but we know that Christ the vine is sufficient for whatever comes before him, so we pray that he will drink deeply of Christ his Savior, that his trust might grow strong. Protect him, Father. Give him words to speak. Replace fear with Your peace–to him and to all those in the community who are believers from a Muslim background. And use his simple but profound faith to pierce the hearts of his father and family, that they too might turn to You in faith. In the name of Jesus, who gives mercy, peace and love in abundance (Jude 1), Amen.
