LIBYAN CHRISTIANS PLEAD FOR PRAYER AFTER WEEKEND MASSACRE
Christians in Libya are asking for prayers following the execution of two groups of Ethiopian Christians in the country last weekend. A total of 30 Christians from Ethiopia were killed by Islamic State (IS) terrorists. Their execution was put on video by IS.
One Christian pleaded: “Please support us in Libya with your prayers; especially the Arabic-speaking congregations of migrants need prayer. These churches are mainly attended by Ethiopian and Eritrean Christians.
“After the shooting and beheading of the Ethiopian Christians, many are becoming frightened, weak, discouraged and disappointed. Pray that the Lord might strengthen all of us in our faith in this time of trial.”
Libya has become a hub for migrants across Africa hoping to cross the Mediterranean to enter Europe for work and better lives.
In February a group of 21 Egyptian Christians were beheaded in Libya by Islamic State.
Libya is ranked No. 13 on Open Doors’ 2015 World Watch List of the 50 worst persecutors of Christians.
