Never Too Old To Go Digital

New technology is being used in a myriad of ways around the globe, both for good and for evil, but we rejoice that the distribution of Scriptures and Christian materials is becoming easier and safer through digital means. Christian radio broadcasts are transmitted into countries where the gospel is otherwise inaccessible. Solar powered radios set to Christian stations and MP3 players downloaded with the Bible and other resources are distributed en mass in many areas with limited access to Bibles. It is a joy to see not only teens, but older men and women, some who may not even be able to read, using this modern technology to hear the Word of God in their own languages.

Now, in countries where possession of the Scriptures presents a risk for believers, SDĀ cards in cell phones provide an ideal means of storing God’s Word. The distribution of these SD cards is taking place in some Central Asian countries with outstanding outcomes.

One believer gave his friend a memory chip card for his telephone. He told him, “You are my best friend and I want to give you something very special.” He knew that his friend wasSD Card already listening to Christian radio programs. Now the two are getting together and planning to watch the Jesus film, part of the library of resources on the chip. The friend had been searching for a way to listen to the Word of God and is really thankful that it is now available. “I am grateful that you made these memory chips. Now I can listen all the time and wherever I am.”

A worker for a Christian radio station fields calls from listeners in a closed country. A man called asking for a Bible in his language and was encouraged to discover that he could receive a memory chip, which has various resources on it, including the Gospels in audio form. The listener asked about church and promised to call again if he has questions.

Father, we are Your creatures, the work of Your hands, and You have created the human mind to think and create in amazing ways. We stand in awe. Thank You for the creation of these new electronic means of communication that enable Your Word to be heard in many languages and in many places that previously did not have access to it. Your Word “is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, [penetrating] even to dividing soul and spirit…; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” And You have promised that Your Word “does not return void,” so we pray with confidence that Your Spirit will take the Word that is going out and use it in power and authority for Your purposes. May it bring forth a revival across the globe that cannot be stopped. In the power of the Spirit and the name of Christ, Amen.
