Pray for the Church in Central Asia

July 15, 2016 by Janelle P in Asia

According to Turkish Government officials, the three suicide bombers in the recent attack at Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul were citizens of Russia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. The Russia citizen among the attackers was reportedly a native of the North Caucasus area. Uzbekistan, #15 on the World Watch List, together with Kyrgyzstan and North Caucasus, is part of a larger region in which radical Islam and Islamic extremism are rapidly expanding. Pray for the protection of the Church in this region, where the danger and threats to followers of Christ have dramatically increased over the past five years.

Father, we pray for Your people in this region, for their protection and for direction as they seek to live out their faith daily in the midst of increasing threats. And we pray that they would reflect the light of Christ in the presence of spiritual darkness that many there might turn to the truth of Your Word and the light of the gospel. In the midst of turmoil and unrest, we pray Your Holy Spirit might bring about a great turning to Christ. In the name of Jesus, the Name above all names! Amen.
