The police have formed a task force to investigate the case of Malaysian Pastor Raymond Koh Keng Joo, 62, who was abducted by masked men on Feb. 13 in broad daylight and in less than sixty seconds. The family has now raised the reward for information of his whereabouts from MYR 10,000 to MYR 100,000 (USD 22,500). The abduction is believed to have religious motivations. Despite having taken statements from eight witnesses, news source Malaysiakini reported, the task force had found no new leads.

As Christians in the country and around the world express concerns over the pastor’s disappearance, the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) points out in a statement that religious leaders must be free from threats of violence and intimidation.

Susanna Koh, wife of Pastor Raymond Koh, expressed her concern for her husband and gratitude for your support, “Dear friends and prayer warriors, My children and I are very anxious for Raymond. … But I am very thankful and overwhelmed by the love and generosity of God’s people. So many messages of support and encouragement have come in. God is good. He is faithful.

“Please continue to pray for his early release in a safe condition. Pray also pray for the safety of my children and me. Let us persevere in prayer, for the prayers of the righteous avail much. Let us continue to love God and do good to our neighbors. Raymond would be very happy today to know that not only Malaysia is praying for him but also the whole world. … Thanks again for your prayers and support. God bless you.”

Father, we know that no matter where Pastor Koh is, You are there. “You hem him in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon him,”protecting him in the shadow of Your wings. Encourage him with Your Word and with the awareness of the prayers around the world that surround him. We pray for his escape and return soon to his family. And we pray for his wife Susanna and their children who are concerned for his life. Thank You for the many ways You have provided for them and comforted them through the prayer and support of many. And we pray for the nation of Malaysia that the gospel of Christ will move across the land in great power. In the name of Jesus, who has redeemed us and set us free from the power of the Prince of Darkness. Amen.
