Victim Miraculously Survives Botched Decapitation

September 25, 2017 by Open Doors in Prayer updates

Yakubu, from Yobe State in Nigeria, woke one night in Nov of 2012 to find Boko Haram breaking down his door. They looted everything before announcing that they were planning to kill him. They cut the back of his neck and then tried to cut from the front twice before leaving him for dead.

Miraculously, Yakubu survived, but sustained injuries and scars that continue to plague him. He has a circular mark below his right eye, a deep scar that runs from the corner of his mouth half way to his left ear, and several linear scars on his back that join in a gnarled mound. For the past five years he has suffered severe neck pain.

Open Doors has now made available funds to Yakubu for neck and spinal surgery to alleviate the pain. Next year he is going to need plastic surgery, for which he needs to raise more funds. Thank the Lord for his work in Yakubu’s life, for saving him and sparing his life during the attack.

Father, we cannot imagine the anguish that Yakubu has sustained over the last five years as he lives with the memories and the continued pain. Thank You for making the funds available to help him with the surgery. We pray that it will be successful in alleviating the pain and that he will recover quickly. We pray, too, that You will provide for the plastic surgery he will need as well. Most of all, we pray that You will touch his mind that the painful memories will not fill him with anger or fear, but that You will use them to strengthen his faith in Christ and that Your Holy Spirit will use his testimony of faith to lead people to saving faith. In the name of Jesus who works “all things for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Rom 8:28). Amen.
